Brazilian Jiu Jitsu a Revolution in Martial Arts

There is a very simple way to gauge which is superior of one martial art over the others. We could take the best fighters in their chosen martial art put them in a controlled environment with no interference or rules that would decide the fight. We could then see if one martial art consistently would out perform all others over an extended period of time. This would give us a definite answer as to which style was most effective. This would seem like an obvious way to resolve the problem.

Not until the 1990’s did Mixed Martial Arts competitions come on to the scene, pitting different fighters together with little or no rules, these began in North America. 

Unknown to most martial artists such MMA fights had been going on for years in South America. These early MMA fights were all bare knuckle with no time limits or weight divisions and very few rules - except no biting or eye gouging, this is as close to real fighting as you can get and the different styles of martial artists would come from miles around to test their skills.
